The mission of the International Mental Health Research Organization (IMHRO) is to alleviate suffering from psychiatric disorders. Our main effort is to support research on schizophrenia, depression and bipolar disorders.

To fulfill this mission, IMHRO:

• Raises and distributes funds for unique research with the potential for significant breakthroughs for psychiatric disorders. The emphasis is on venture-oriented, innovative science.

• Encourages sharing of scientific results and communication among scientists.

• Publicizes advances in mental health research to demonstrate the tremendous impact and need for continued funding from current and future donors.

• Reduces the stigma of psychiatric illness by education aimed at emphasizing the biological basis and high incidence of these physical diseases.

Headquartered in Rutherford, Napa Valley, CA, the International Mental Health Research Organization’s Board of Directors is guided by its Scientific Advisory Board, a group of leaders in the key disciplines of psychiatric brain disorders, who provide their time and talent to develop research policy and review grant proposals.
